Now, you can have that “dream name!” At Yahoo, that is.
The username that you’ve ever wanted, but is unfortunately unavailable, can now be yours as Yahoo has officially begun the distribution of recycled usernames. This is part of a project to deactivate the accounts which haven’t been used in the past year, so that the username can be made available for others. Currently, invitations to those who had made a usernames wish list before the August 7 deadline are being sent out.
From the initial offering, top username requests include David, Michael & Alex for men, and Maria, Jennifer and Jessica for women. It was also reported that Batman and Superman topped the list.
Those who weren’t able to score their dream username this time around were automatically added to a “Watchlist” so that when a particular name becomes available, recipients will be given 14 days to claim it before it goes to the next person in line.
Those who haven’t made a wish list yet can still join. For $1.99, they can have the top 5 usernames of choice added to the Watchlist for the next three years.
